Playwright Darcy Bruce shares their experience
working with Broad Horizons
On June 3, 2024, the company presented a reading of Darcy Bruce's new play, All We Know Is Not Enough. The play had been selected as the winner of the company's annual new play competition, called "New Voices, New Plays, New York." Below, they describe the experience of winning the competition and all that comes with it--an opportunity to develop the play with critical feedback and participate in casting the roles and rehearsing the play for a reading presented for a live audience in New York City.
"Working with Broad Horizons was a healing experience. I felt immensely supported, and the room of people gathered was incredible. Between the talent, the support, and the sense of community, I felt very safe and therefore able to dive back into the play with intent. Broad Horizons made every step of this process feel productive, and I was blown away by the support at every turn. Devin Brain was a wonderful director who understood the piece and asked questions that allowed me to analyze the work in a way I hadn't considered yet. Our actors were perfect, and our stage manager Brianna Rafidi supported us fully. This was a dream of an experience from beginning to end and I'm very grateful for the chance to come back to this piece and to do this work with such an amazing group of humans.
